- The Historic National Road
Joseph & Anne Sachs: "As America entered the 19th Century, settlers moving west faced perils aggravated by the lack of a good roadway.
The solution was the National Road, America's first interstate highway.
Drive the Historic National Road and you'll come across many places to take wonderful pictures, and you'll find stories
of visionaries, mercenaries, common people, and most uncommon acts." click here for photos
